UGH!

My sweet Mojo doggy hasn't been feeling so great. There have been a few times over the past few weeks that she has pee-peed on the carpet. There have also been a few times over the past week or so that she has peed outside, then walked a few steps and peed again. Strange. So when she did that the other night, I checked her "down there" to see if anything was off. I wiped her with a tissue and sure enough it was pink. My automatic assumption was that she had a urinary tract infection (UTI). I called the vet the next morning and got her in to be seen that day.

After checking her out, the doctor said that everything else looked fine. There was nothing obviously wrong and she wasn't acting weird. He decided that a urinalysis would be the best thing to do. He also suggested x-rays of her kidneys and blood work. I knew those would be expensive, so I had them price it for me. $550!!! HA! I literally laughed in their face and said "yeah, right". I decided to go ahead with the urinalysis, because that was much more in my price range (plus I had already figured that was going to needed).

The doctor took her back to "extract her urine" and brought her back in saying that he couldn't get any. He wanted to keep her for a few hours and try again... in the meanwhile charging me a boarding fee. Ha, again! No thanks, Doc. I was not about the leave my dog to be kept in a kennel just so she could pee. I decided to bring her back later. I brought her back 2 hours later, still nothing. They kept her for another hour, still nothing (but they didn't charge me for it!). they asked me to just come back in the morning and try again. At this point I was ready to give up, but I wanted my girl to get better. We drove home, she jumped out of the car and ran to the grass to pee. Are. you. kidding. me?! I was not happy.

I brought her back in this morning, told them what happened, and told them they had one last chance. I was done. They took her back and when they brought her out... success! I was so thankful that it was over with. I am done with that vet! So now we wait for results (24 hrs), get medicine and move on! I just hope it's something easily treatable... she's my first "baby" and it makes me so sad!

Best Friends

Way back in junior high, I met a girl named Danielle. She and I became best friends. We did everything together. We played tennis together. We had classes together. We went to our school dances together. We took "model" pictures in her backyard together. Ha! Through the years we remained friends. We went through our phases of being super close, then not so close, then not talking much, then super close again. That seems to be how girlfriend relationships work during the pre-teen/teenage years. We kept in touch a bit through college but didn't see each other much. It was hard since I was living in a different state!

After I got pregnant with Jax she called me to tell me that she was pregnant as well. She was due almost exactly one month after me. We were S.O. excited to go through everything together. The only sad part was that I was 3000 miles away. We still talked often through our pregnancies and compared notes. I often got calls from her wondering if this or that was normal, or how I felt about such and such. We found out that we were both having boys and we became even more excited. Then we told each other what we were naming them... Jax and Max! They were destined to be best friends. When Jax was born 12 days late, Max decided that he couldn't wait any longer. He came out a few weeks early and they ended up only being 8 days apart.

Danielle and I have been looking forward to the days when they could play together. Over the past 2 months, we've had lots of these days.... days that have been 12 years in the making... and totally worth the wait!

I can't wait to see what the future has in store for these two best friends!!

Blogging Rut

I haven't had a lot to write recently. I want to write, but for some reason I feel like I don't have a lot to say. I think it's because my life is boring right now. Ha! I spend my mornings exercising (spin class, personal trainer, walking, biking), I spend my afternoons running errands or at home playing with Jax. I spend my evenings watching TV or doing homework. Day in and day out, that's about all that happens. It will soon be broken up by Bible study once a week (starting Tuesday... yay!). I try to stay busy, but there's just not a lot to do. It's hard when your husband is deployed and your "normal" life doesn't exist. I'm sure I will have more to say once we get into October... the Fresno Fair (so stoked I get to go this year!), Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's (Happy Anniversary to us!) and then not long until Ryan comes home! I just have to get through the next few weeks and things should pick up a bit. And I promise I will try to write/post pictures more. But for now, I'm just in a rut :-/

PS- Jax weighs 21.3 lbs and is 29.5 inches tall... 10th percentile for both! He didn't go down!!!

The Red, White and Blue

American girls and American guys,
will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize,
when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night
when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army
where he lost his right eye,
And he flew a flag out in our yard
'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother,
my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy
in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love
is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in
from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly
through our big black eye,
then we lit up your world
like the Fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name
at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty
started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly
and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom
start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world
is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy
of the red, white and blue.

Oh, justice will be served
and the battle will rage,
This big dog will fight
when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with
the U.S. of A.
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass,
it's the American way.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name
at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty
started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly
and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom
start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world
is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy
of the red, white and blue.

15 months old!

What do 15-month-olds do??

They hit their heads on the coffee table while wrestling with mommy

They slice their fingers on kitchen gadgets and have to wear their first band-aid

They "knock-knock" on doors and windows

They wear cute big-boy outfits and make funny faces

They sleep with their daddy doll

They wear big bowls on their head

They lay on the floor and roll around

And...
they go on licking escapades (tile floor, wall, carpet...)

they discover new words (up, no-no, {I can't think of his other ones right now :-/} )

they practice their animal sounds (dog, cat, elephant, monkey and lion)

they point to their ears and mouth

they weigh approximately 21 pounds

they wear size 3 diapers, 12 month pants, 12 or 18 month shirts and size 4 shoes

they still hate napping in their crib but they nap great in the car seat, stroller, or mommy's arms

they love to drink mommy's coffee (oopsie :) )

they hate being confined to a high chair or stroller or shopping cart or.....

they L.O.V.E. playing outside

they love mommy

they miss daddy
